The article deals with the problem of scientific process in order to overcome limitations within positivist approaches that emphasis on formal, internal aspects scientific changes. At the same time such position makes it difficult to explicate substantive, genetic links between different ideal forms (religious, art, daily and so on) and science. It’s on that basis that scientific process is elaborated in the article. Author argues the efficiency of its classical philosophical explanations within of which relations between form and content of scientific cognitive activity are analyzed with tradition concepts such as “idea», “conception» and “theory». In addition to them it’s argued the necessary to implement concepts of “scientific artifacts» and “scientific customs and traditions».
Idea is treated as a basic component of different cognitive practices. As such, it’s the genome of scientific process in various areas of culture. Owing specific synthetic nature, idea can exists only as a central part of some conceptual system. In this way authors shows that conception fixes next stage of scientific process existing just like idea in different fields of culture. It’s revealed also that conception carries out special functions providing people with understanding and explanation of idea. It’s shown that this search process leads to discovers of natural laws, regularities and resulting in transformation conception into theory.
This conversion is marked as the point as from which scientific process begins as a special cultural process. Since this point theory takes up explicated functions of conception. However, author insists on thesis about the need to maintain conception core of scientific theory. It’s grounded that included in scientific process conception develops its philosophical grounds, understanding of its mission and values in this way playing the role of an essential link between science and society. According to this position it’s argued that an adaptability of scientific theories depends on their philosophical depth.
Additionally, special role of scientific cultural artifacts, customs and tradition is investigated. Scientific cultural artifacts are considered as a precondition and at the same time a result of scientific process. Achievements and lacks of theory within practical activity aiming on changing of reality are revealed. There are some evidences in the article that patterns of successful scientific activity preserves in scientific customs. Becoming the subject of reflection activity this customs transforms into scientific traditions.
Summarizing the main points raised in the article, author stresses on principal incompleteness of scientific process. Ideas, conceptions (scientific as well as non-scientific) and even “final» theories are considered as special platforms enabling further development of science as an integral part modern culture.
